Why tourism needs an e-learning course in the field of CSR?
- For the tourism sector, betting on sustainability is not a need anymore, but an imperative (as the COVID crisis taught us).
- The tourism sector still does not fully understands and accepts the CSR today. As a consequence, there is still a shortage in its practical application.
- Tourism is one of the fastest growing production sectors. Globally, 1 person on 11 works in tourism, and the sector generates the 10% of PIL.
- The UN Sustainable Development Goals directly mention it.
- The human factor is crucial: A proper training program to spread the application of CSR principles in the tourism sector could really make a difference in the direction of a real sustainability.
As part of the project result 2, and based on the outcome of the project results 1, partners developed an e-learning course.
The course contains seven different modules that were built after identifying the knowledge needs with the stakeholders, and have the aim to develop technical and social skills, and share best practices to improve CSR in the Tourism industry. They want to rise awareness about different crucial themes, such as disability and inclusion, environment and climate change, green practice, and responsible tourism. And they are also practical and explain financial opportunity linked to a sustainable development of tourism companies through the implementation of CSR policies.
The modules are:
- Introduction
- CSR principles (PREDF and IDOP)
- Social skills to develop your business in a sustainable way (BTCH and Destination)
- Practices and technical skill for green CSR impact (IDOP)
- Business innovation practices to your business (ACS)
- Effective actions for a greener industry (ZEW)
- New basics that the industry needs
Each module was developed by the most qualified partner and the best expert of the topic.
