The European project HI4CSR, the Harmonization and implementation of the EU’s Corporate Social Responsibility Directives contributes to the realization of the Europe 2020 strategy by involving European universities, consultancy firms, CSR organizations and decision-makers from different countries to create sustainable, stable and inclusive economic growth.
The primary objectives of the project are adult education and exchange of best practice examples about the harmonization and implementation of European directives in the field of socially responsible business in national legislative frameworks.
The project focuses on six Directives in the area of socially responsible business related to non-financial reporting, eco-labels, food donation, employment of people with disabilities, encouraging treatment of used materials and European water legislation.
Project topics
1.Non-financial reporting
Nonfinancial or sustainability report is a report published by company with the goal of presenting information about social, environmental and economic impacts of its business.
2.Encouraging the treatment of used materials
Waste presents huge environmental, social and economic problem. High quality waste management ensures higher levels of resource efficiency and utilization, and decreases use of raw natural resources.
3. Food donations
Food waste is one of the biggest problems nowadays due to the fact that around 30% of grown and manufactured food ends up on the landfills which results in loss of valuable resources and entails high costs.
4. Eco-labels
Eco-labels are instruments intended for labeling products and services that have lower negative environmental impact during the life cycle compared to similar products and services present on the market.
5.Employment of people with disabilities
Development of inclusive and encouraging work environment is important part of corporate social responsibility. People with disability are voulnerable group on work market and due to the societal marginalization they face difficulties in accessing existing resources.
6. Water legal framework
Among EU policies, water is important part of growth, employment and investment agenda, not only because it is needed in all economic sectors, but also because water sector includes 9000 entreprizes and employs 600 000 people.
