'The World's Greatest Lesson in Croatia' is a project of the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Program that aims to bring the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) closer to young people in Croatia through translation and creation of educational content, workshops, seminars and study visits.
Partners in the project are the Croatian Institute for Corporate Social Responsibility (project coordinator), the Lijepa Naša Zagreb Association, Jabukovac Elementary School and Prva privatna gimnazija s pravom javnosti from Zagreb.
This project creates educational content for primary and secondary school students so that they are prepared for new social and environmental challenges in the future and can make important life and business decisions. It is of great importance to create such educational content precisely for primary and secondary school students, who are in the period of life when they receive the most information daily that they need to integrate into everyday activities and on which their further development as individuals, as well as the society in which they operate, depends the most.
The educational content that will result from this project approaches teaching the topic of sustainable development in an attractive and simple way. In order for this type of education to be sustainable in the long term, the project focuses on both the development of educational content and the development of competences for lifelong learning through the research and creative element of young people.
In the first phases of the project, the focus will be on translating, creating and adapting educational materials in the field of sustainable development for students, teachers and parents/guardians. Workshops will also be held for parents/guardians, students and teachers. The sustainable development training program intended for primary and secondary school students will be implemented through debates, brainstorming, group work, pair work, use of multimedia, experiential exercises, Eco Quiz, and study visits to examples of good sustainable development practices.
